Phi 2.5.0

Version 2.5.0Build 745

Phi Browser 2.5 is here, and for once the headline can be understood in more than one language.

Phi now speaks English, Chinese, Japanese, German, Dutch, and French across the browser and all its components. It follows your macOS language setting by default, with a single language option picker in General when you would rather choose for yourself. We translated the whole thing with the best LLM tokens we can buy, but we do not think that is enough. Their confidence is excellent. Their idioms, occasionally less so. If you use Phi in a language other than English and find a translation funny, laugh at it, then submit your better version at i18n.phibrowser.com. We will thank you and credit you in the project history, (all translations are CC0 licensed, but "no attribution required" is not the same as "no gratitude supplied.") then we will quietly replace the evidence.

For new users, you can also explore Phi without signing in. Choose "Explore Phi without signing in" during setup and Phi behaves like a proper browser: Spaces, search, pinned tabs, bookmarks, and none of the AI bits asking for an account before you have even opened a webpage. If you sign in later, your pinned tabs and bookmarks come with you. A browser that browses before requesting a relationship. We remain pioneers of the obvious.

Agent Spaces have learned better household manners. Spaces created by agents stay grouped apart from yours, finished tasks clean up after themselves, and "Switch to Agent Space" now brings the right window back when your agent needs a hand. AI greetings and conversations also have clearer feedback controls, so you can tell Phi when it was useful, wrong, or merely having one of those afternoons.

We brought back the option to restore open tabs after closing a window, fixed restored tabs waking up in the wrong Space or order, repaired bookmark imports, and cleaned up a collection of theme, window, Widget, and sidebar oddities. Small details, mostly. Unfortunately, software is made almost entirely of small details waiting for the opportunity to become large annoyances.

We also updated our Privacy Policy and Terms, with the appropriate blessings from proper lawyers. Give them a read. Our legal counsel did not spend all that time negotiating with commas for nothing.

More languages, less ceremony, better-behaved agents, and fewer tabs returning from the dead in someone else's Space. Phi 2.5 feels broader without feeling busier, which is rather the point.
